Short Bio for Terri Jo Jenkins 
Native Nebraskan, singer, songwriter, & guitarist,
Terri Jo Jenkins, has performed with many jazz, blues,folk , and a capella groups in the midwest and as a soloist across the U.S                                                                                & in Canada. She has worked with noted musicians and songwriters including: Peggy Seeger, Christine Lavin, Tom May, & Dr. John                                                                                 Walker.   T.J. has released 3 solo recordings of original songs, recordings with the Midwest a cappella jazz group, “Baby Needs Shoes",
the Nebraska jazz group, “The Jazz Factory”, nationally recognized pianist, Jeff Jenkins, Colorado Jazz group, "Rocky Mtn. Jazz Trio",
and the Colorado 10 piece band, "Park Hill Brass".  Terri Jo has been a featured vocalist at many jazz and folk festivals across the
country and at the Jazz en Vercor festival in France.  Her songs have been played on radio stations across the country, including a                                                                         holiday show aired nationally on NPR & narrated by legend, Judy Collins, an original song played on the national show, "Car Talk", & 
featured in interviews on NE, AZ, CO, and Canada stations. 
Terri Jo relocated from Nebraska to Denver, CO in  2009 where she performs as a jazz vocalist, folk/blues musician & songwriter.


Full Bio for Terri Jo Jenkins
Terri Jo has been singing professionally since her childhood in Venango, NE.  She and her sisters toured as teenagers performing at festivals, state & country fairs,
churches and local television shows with their 3 part harmonies that won them state and regional talent shows. Terri Jo released her first record (with her two sisters) when she was just 14 years old. Her first solo CD, “Legend of Strawberry Moon” was recorded in 1996 and her second release of original songs, “Stories Around Me” was produced on the Tremulant Records label (www.tremulantrecords.com)  in1999. Her 3rd collection of original songs, "Turn the Page", was released on the Prarie Dog Music label  (www.prariedogmusic.com) in 2008.

Terri Jo has performed in featured showcases at the international Folk Alliance Conferences in the United States & Canada, and has been the guest speaker and spokeswoman for the Womenfolk groups at these conferences. She has been asked to perform with recognized songwriters across the country including the legend, Peggy Seeger.
 
Terri Jo was nominated for local folk artist of the year, 1998, 1999, 2000, & 2004 by KZUM public radio in Lincoln, NE. She has been a songwriting competition winner and has had her music featured on radio programs across the country and in Canada.  Terri Jo has been a guest on the national radio programs, River City Folk and Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour as well as many local folk radio programs.  Terri Jo’s original song, "Six Little Angels", was chosen to be included on a special Holiday program produced for National Public Radio station across the country and hosted by legend, Judy Collins. Her song, "While I Drive", has also been heard on the popular NPR show, Car Talk

Terri Jo performed on the Nebraska Arts Council touring roster as a vocalist in the all women a cappella group, "Baby Needs Shoes".  This group was invited to sing at the prestigious Leid Center for the Performing Arts and still performs occasionally to this day. Terri Jo wrote the group's theme song which was chosen to be a part of a nationally distributed CD of original jazz songs. 

Terri Jo's musical interest's  expanded into jazz music in 2006, singing and recording with the NE "Jazz Factory" group.  Performing with this celebrated group of jazz musicians gave TJ the opportunity to sing for thousands at the Jazz in June Festival and the Jazz on the Green Festivals among others.  
 

TJ relocated from Nebraska to Colorado in 2009 and quickly emerged herself in the jazz and singer/songwriter scenes in Denver.  She was soon invited to sing with the Colorado nonet, "Park Hill Brass" at the Jazz en Vercor festival in France. She was invited back for several consecutive years to be a featured performer at this festival and continues to be the vocalist for this "big band". 

Terri Jo has recorded vocals with the Park Hill Brass, the Rocky Mtn. Trio Jazz band, and with nationally recognized pianist, Jeff Jenkins. Her own full length jazz album, "From This Moment" is set to release on March 8, 2016. This long awaited recording includes some of Colorado's most recognized and celebrated musicians including;
Jeff Jenkins on piano, Ken Walker on bass, Mike Marlier on percussion, Brad Goode on trumpet, John Gunther on woodwinds, and Brian Monroney on guitar. 
This collection of songs focuses on gratitude and rising above depression to find light and joy.  The recording project was awarded a Pathways to Jazz grant by the Boulder County Arts Alliance in 2015. 

In addition to performing at jazz clubs, festivals, (including the Five Points Jazz Festival & the Estes Park Jazz Festival, and music series events, TerriJo continues to play guitar and sing as a folk & blues singer in Colorado and Nebraska. She also teaches at the DanaV Music school in Louisville, CO and at her own private studio in Denver.
